Independent acquires fourth practice
Opticare Opticians opens practice number four as it looks to grow further still
26 January 2018
An independent opticians in the east Midlands has expanded its portfolio through the acquisition of a new practice.
Originally established in 1991, Opticare Opticians now has four practices around Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
The new practice is based in Sileby and is the first acquisition for the business, which has previously grown the group by opening practices from scratch.
The practice, formerly AG & D Richards, has been rebranded and was officially opened under the Opticare Opticians umbrella on 16 November.
Speaking to OT about the expansion, optometrist and partner at Opticare Opticians, Shaimil Shah, said: “I’ve always been a massive believer in independent practice and there is certainly a place on the High Street for patients who want a personalised journey and individual care. For Opticare, it is the right time for us to grow as the sector experiences change and growth.”
Mr Shah confirmed that the company aims to grow further through an acquisition model, acknowledging that many practitioners are reaching retirement and looking to sell well-established, successful practices.
